If you’re looking for inspiration on things to do in Helsinki with kids, you’ve come to the right place! Helsinki is a very family-friendly city – not only is it one of the safest capital cities in the world, but it also offers plenty of activities for families. Amusement parks, child-friendly museums, lots of nature to roam… Helsinki has all you need for an enjoyable family vacation!
The Linnanmäki Amusement Park is located a short tram ride away from Helsinki city centre. The park has free entry and nine free rides, including an observation tower that offers great views over the city. For the other rides, you can buy individual tickets or a wristband valid for all rides for one day.
The amusement park also organises fun events throughout the year! Check out the scary “Iik!Week” or the Carnival of Light coming up this autumn.

Helsinki Zoo is made unique by its location on an island near the city. The zoo is connected to the mainland with a bride and can be reached year-round by bus or car. However, during the summer season, you can make the experience extra special by taking a ferry from the market square to the zoo!
Day-tickets during the summer season cost 16€/adult and 8€/child. The ticket prices drop slightly during the off-season.

Our tours are a great way for the whole family to explore Helsinki together. Kids love our funny tour guide, Fox Jr.! The tours include both fun stories about the Finnish way of life and up-to-date information about the landmarks, making the tours an enjoyable way for the kids and adults alike to learn more about Helsinki and Finland.
The Top Sights of Helsinki Tour is, for example, a great option for families. The tour takes you to the must-see sights of the city, but can comfortably be walked in about an hour or two, depending on how much time you want to spend at each location.
The SkyWheel Observation Wheel is located in the Katajanokka area of Helsinki, near many of the main sights of the city. It’s a fun way for the whole family to see Helsinki from a different perspective, and try to spot the city’s famous landmarks from up above.
The tickets cost 12€/adult and 9€/child. Children aged 0-2 can come along for free.

There are a number of museums in Helsinki that all family members will enjoy exploring. How about a visit to the Tram Museum, where you can take a seat in an old tram and be instantly transported to the Helsinki of the old days? Or maybe you want to learn more abut Finnish nature, along with four other exhibitions at the Natural History Museum? You could also head to the Helsinki City Museum, where kids can learn about Helsinki’s history at the “Children’s Town” exhibition.

Helsinki’s numerous public parks and playgrounds are great places for the kids to use up some energy (and parents to take a well-deserved break). Our suggestions for centrally located parks with playgrounds are:
The Allas Sea Pool is a great place to experience the Finnish Sauna right in the Helsinki city centre! They also have three pools (warm pool, sea water pool and children’s pool), so it’s a great place to spend a sunny day during the short but sweet Finnish summer. Note that the children’s pool is closed during winter, though.
For a great sauna experience (and a dip in the sea) a bit further away from the city centre, check out a local favourite – Löyly! Here, the saunas aren’t electrically heated, but instead there’s a wood-heated sauna and a smoke sauna, which Finns usually think are better than electric saunas.
