The summer season in Helsinki might be coming to an end, but the city remains full of things to see and do in the autumn. Not much changes after the summer’s over, since the main attractions can be visited year-round. And although the hustle and bustle of summer slows down in September, there are still plenty of interesting events organised around Helsinki that are worth checking out! Iik!Week at Linnanmäki Amusement Park


During “Iik!Week”, every day after 4PM the amusement park becomes a theme park filled with scary rides. On Saturdays (8th and 15th) the park is open until midnight. The theme week is not for the faint-hearted, but those who like a good scare are guaranteed an exciting experience!

Helsinki Design Week


Helsinki Design Week, held annually in September, is the largest design festival in the Nordics. The festival programme has over 250 events, targeted for design professionals and the general public alike. The events take place in a variety of places throughout the city – from museums to markets, and from seminar halls to secret shops.

The International Grand Market has toured Finland all summer long and will finally arrive in Helsinki in mid-September! The market has vendors from all over the world, as well as from different parts of Finland, selling everything from traditional foods to handicrafts and flowers.

Helsinki International Film Festival – Love & Anarchy


Helsinki International Film Festival will be held in September for the 31st time since being founded in 1988. The festival seeks to promote the artistry of filmmaking alongside inventive, controversial and visually stunning new films. Many films that would otherwise not be seen in Finnish theatres are screened during the festival. The programme consists of around 180 feature films and a similar amount of short productions, and important filmmakers are invited to speak at the festival each year.
